Okay, so I was at an E-Cafe last month, and, as I had my PSP on my person, I decided to play a few rounds of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus (MPO+) online. So I booted up my PSP and MPO+, and went to the Solid Snake Lobby (where EVERYBODY plays).
I'd done a lot of practicing on Normal Mode and even a round on Hard Mode of Infinity Mission, and so I was feeling pretty confident, and so I decided to finally try my hand at the RC (Real Combat) Multiplayer mode. Prior to this, I had stuck entirely with only matches that fell under the no-risk VC (Virtual Combat) category, which plays like a traditional Online Multiplayer experience, you die, and respawn later.
I sent out my Alpha Team, which consisted of a Arsenal Tengu soldier equipped with -aside from the Ninja Blade that he's pre-equipped with- a P90, a Mark 23 Pistol, and some Life Medicine (S).
Besides him, I had two USSR Male Soldiers with Scorpions and AK-47s, and the final soldier was a Navy Seal with an M4, a Mark 23, a SVD, and an M63.
These were troops I had been painstakingly leveling up for a long time now, and I had finally maxed out their stats.
So what happened?
I joined an RC Team Deathmatch game and got all of my team killed in about 5 minutes. This wouldn't be a bad thing in VC, where you simply respawn after dying, like in every other multiplayer game out there. But in RC, once a soldier dies, they (and everything equipped to them) are gone for good.
So I just lost 4 soldiers that I had spent a month leveling up and some top notch weapons too.
...I'm just going to stick to VC Modes from now on. _________________
