I've been keeping tabs on worldwide media (odd habit, but let's not get into that), and I've noticed that everywhere, sex is frequently glorified. Why? I don't consider this safe, right, or particularly redeeming. If an alien race were to visit earth, they'd probably leave with the impression that mankind was a bunch of whores. I don't want that kind of society.

So, what's your opinion on sex in the media? Good? Bad? Say your piece here.

Personally, I'm fine with it. But what's fine for me won't be fine for someone else, and for that reason, I feel obligated to be against it, even though I don't have any issues with it myself.

Here here. Granted, I am a guy, and I have obvious... reaction. But it's still horrible.

I may sound crude...

But it really doesnt matter. Plain and simple: Sex sells.

What you have to remeber is that the people putting these adds out are corpirations. And what do these corpirations need? Money, and lots of it. And if they find something that will help them advertise and make money they will use it.

hmm i just remembered the zentradis reaction upon seeing a woman in a bathing suite in an ad in robotech. Basically it was shock. now while i may think we need more sex and less gore that dosn't mean that they aren't taking some things to far for instance the anime speed grapher great series i love it BUT HELL is it oversexed even i think it shouldn't be tv-ma it should be x and anyone who knows me knows that's near impossible to get me to say. But they will keep doing it and you know their's alot of satuff out there that makes me want to puke just gore more often than anything sexual. also it depends on YOUR values not even how your raised (well if your like me and find your own route regardless of others views.) and because these things do sell as said before they will make them. same with gore sadly.

I don't have a problem with sex in the media as much as I have a problem with how its used. Basically if a woman doesn't look like a supermodel and is over 35, she's out to pasture given the current advertising world. Advertising is very much responsible for female body issues, men's preoccupation with women in compromised situations, etc. Think of it this way: Ad agencies put up an ad of a woman that men really like, so all real world women end up having to chase that standard (and let's not forget that with air brushing and computer age technology, most of the women (and men) we see in ads and on magazine covers DON"T EVEN LOOK LIKE THAT!) to keep a guy.

It's used far too often, but especially here int he US, we have a lot of sexually repressed people. It's like living in the Puritan age sometimes over here. Rolling Eyes

But seriously, advertising is the devil. I once told a girl who proudly told me she worked in advertising that she should kill herself. And I was only half joking. O_o

Lol i love it and quite agree for instance those women in the weight lkoss pill ads over half the time i wind up thinking why the hell did they need to go on a diet they looked better before the pill. Women shouldn't be the skinniest things on the planet nor should men have to be the most muscular i myself hold back on working out (abnormally large amount of adrenaline defacto plus muscles = not good). oh and if this is what was meant by sex in the media then i agree it's horrible.

This seems like a restricted mind set. Sex is natural. Hell, it's the point of being alive. Why do we have to view it as wrong? You see, individuals are corrupted by what society views as corruptible. By viewing things as corruptible, people like you only create more to be corrupted by, therefore corrupting more people. Animals must live in a moral eden. All they do is think about food and sex 24/7. If unbiased aliens came to earth, all they would see is a species doing what is natural. In your version, the aliens seem to have come from a planet of nuns.

When you suppress things like this, you are essentially suppressing the very core of self consciousness and being. It is the root of life.
