TCA and I have been talking, and the subject of Sephiroth's teen years came up. We both agree Sephy was probably a lazy slacker in his youth, which would be why he turned out so serious in his future.

I'm gonna wait till I finish FFVII before I read the rest of this thread. I've already spoiled some stuff for myself. 
That said, I think Seph is kind of a lame character. I like Angeal and Genesis better, though Genesis' constant quoting of Loveless kinda annoyed me. Sephiroth is just kind of an emo, "Woe is me" type character (at least from what I've played so far) and I can't take much of that.
