It's solid in my eyes. It's a GREAT GAME. Character Creation, a HUGE ROSTER, and an ACTUAL STORY MODE.
It fixed EVERYTHING!
So why all the hate?

I like it, but I still like II a little more. II Has a cool arcade feel to it while III is more like an adventure in itself, plus CotS is boring after about three maps.

Well, I'll admit that Chronicles of the Sword does get long and repetitive, but at last the arcade mode was worth playing.

I honestly don't get the hate.

Why all the hate, you ask?

Because, those that loved Soul Calibur III lost said love with Soul Calibur Legends. It's that simple.

I wasn't aware of any dislike...

Yup. If you didn't think Soul Calibur III was bad you would after playing Legends.

Legends used a lot of the voice actors and costumes from III, plus it had the same broken control scheme.

I was also bummed that SCIII did not have any extra costumes for characters. Color edit was nice on the other hand.

I liked III better than II. II is WAY too easy, even on the hard level. I beat the game the first time I played it (literally) and then proceeded to own my brother and all his friends who'd been playing the game for years (and I'd never even played a SC game before!)

I like the different modes in III, the costumes, the CoTS mode, the Create MOde, etc. Plus I like that the AI actually provides some sort of challenge.

I do miss that level in II that was in the sewers and had the cage with the spider web design on it. I wish they'd kept that.

IT DID SO! Siegfried's was him with a tabard, different armor, and short hair. Ivy's looked more regal, Nightmare's was a throwback to his alt. costume from SoulCalibur, etc, etc. It's just the button to switch costumes changed from the previous installment.
